The complaint

Lightkeeper, LLC v. Arcana Analytics, Inc., No. 1:26-cv-14435 (D. Mass.), is a 35-page complaint filed September 29, 2026, ECF No. 1, which the docket describes as a public redacted version; the court granted Lightkeeper's motion to seal the unredacted version the same day. The case is assigned to Judge Brian E. Murphy. Lightkeeper, a Delaware limited liability company based in Boston, Massachusetts, says it provides portfolio intelligence, data management, analytics, and reporting software and services to investment management firms. It describes Arcana as a data analytics company based in New York, New York. (Compl. paras. 1, 11, 12.)

The mark

Lightkeeper pleads Registration No. 7,339,287 for INSIGHTS AT THE SPEED OF THOUGHT, registered on the Principal Register on March 26, 2024 in Class 36 for financial information, analysis, consultancy, and research services, and says it has used the slogan since at least June 2022. (Compl. paras. 22 to 24.) USPTO TSDR lists Lightkeeper, LLC as the owner, with a status of registered.

What the complaint alleges

The complaint alleges that in September 2026 Lightkeeper found Arcana using "Insight at the speed of thought." as a headline in App Store marketing for its Arcana Analytics app, which it says tracks the registered mark word for word except for the singular "Insight," and it pleads a likelihood of confusion, pointing to the overlapping investment-management customers both companies serve. It separately alleges that reports and dashboards in Arcana's public materials reproduce the structures, headings, metric groupings, and layouts of Lightkeeper's confidential reports, and, on information and belief, that Arcana worked with a current or prospective Lightkeeper customer to obtain confidential Lightkeeper materials. (Compl. paras. 4, 41 to 47, 54 to 60.)

Claims and relief requested

Lightkeeper brings six counts against Arcana: federal trademark infringement under 15 U.S.C. § 1114 (Count I); false designation of origin and federal unfair competition under 15 U.S.C. § 1125(a)(1)(A) (Count II); trade secret misappropriation under the Defend Trade Secrets Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1836 et seq. Laws ch. 93A, §§ 2 and 11 (Count V); and tortious interference with contractual relations under Massachusetts common law (Count VI).
